Need more information on the PADI Open Water course?

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, you will have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional to a depth of 18 metres. If you have already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, credits from these courses may apply to the open water program.
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification . If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

During the course you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques .

The course comprises of three sections; Knowledge Development, Confined Water skills, and 4 Open Water Dives. The Knowledge Development and Confined Water sections are commonly called a "referral course". This is a popular option as it allows you to complete the remaining dives on holiday, for example

eLearning This is a new study method introduced by PADI. The eLearning portion replaces the traditional manual and DVD, allowing you to complete the knowledge development online independent of a Dive Centre - you can then complete the remaining confined water section with us or at any other PADI Dive Centre. It is available to study online as eLearning or as the new PADI Open Water Diver Touch on Apple and Android tablets.

    • PADI Open Water manual - This contains all the information you need to know and provides a reference point after you have passed.
    • PADI Logbook - has an additional record section for your progress during this and future courses as well as allowing you to record evidence of your experience that is required for more adventurous dives.
    • PADI Open Water DVD.
    • PADI RDP (Recreational Dive Planner) - Essential for safe diving.
  • Use of ALL required equipment including pool suits.
  • Minimum of 7 hours water time. (6 hours weekends).
  • Additional sessions to master skills if required.
  • Refresher session before you take the final dives.
  • Certification card (on completion of the full course).
  • NEW Sealife Micro 2.0 Underwater camera now available for our OW students to hire for use on holiday.

Weekend courses now available
The courses can be completed on either 5 evenings (Monday/Wednesday) or 2 weekend days (e.g. Saturday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday). Course DATES

Monday/Wednesday Modules 1-5. The theory session are conducted at the Dive Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30-7.30pm with the confined water training following at a 2.2 metre local pool from 8.00-9.15pm.

Weekends The theory sessions are 9.30am-1.00pm, Confined Water 1.30pm-4.30pm

Dives Depending on the time of year or your preference for location, the qualifying Open Water dives may be completed at the coast in Portland - Dorset or at an inland dive sites; Stoney Cove - Leicestershire or Wraysbury - Heathrow. The use of inland sites allows instruction in controlled conditions, where weather or tides do not affect training.

Remember if you can not see a suitable date for your course, please contact us.
You need to be able to swim 200m and be medically fit.
Please read page one of the NEW PADI medical form (#10346E), if you answer yes to questions 3, 5, or 10 or any questions on page two get your doctor to sign page 3. If you need to see a doctor you should try your GP first. If you have need to be referred for a further consultation we recommend specialist diving doctor in London. Confirm the cost with your GP, hopefully it will be free of charge but it may be charged - A specialist Diving Doctor may be cheaper!
